Cobb County eSchool
eHS does not fit the description of a traditional high school. Based in Marietta, Georgia, eHS was created in 2001 by the Cobb County School District for students who wanted to take classes outside of their regular schedules. Traditionally, eHS has offered tuition courses to students who wish to take a class in addition to their regular school day. However, in accordance with the Georgia Virtual School legislation signed by the Governor in May 2005, eHS now offers online courses to students as part of the regular school day. eHS believes Wimba software is easy to use and therefore allows instructors of varying technological skills to implement it based on what they might need in order to reach all their students.

“We wanted to have our online classes mirror our face-to-face classes, and Wimba gave us that opportunity,” said Dr. Regina Merriwether, Assistant Director of Instructional Technology and Principal of DeKalb OnLine Academy, when asked why Wimba was chosen to add a collaborative component to its online courses. Whether a student wants to get ahead or just get caught up, the DeKalb OnLine Academy (DOLA) of Georgia’s DeKalb County School System can help. Visit the AMDG, Inc. Website
AMDG has been using Wimba Classroom for the past year for its online High School Virtual School and has found it to be a vast improvement over our previous chat room software. Now our students are able to utilize 2-way voice audio and to speak to their teachers in real-time environment. This is extremely useful for foreign language courses and students have shown a 35% improvement in their scores due to the increased interaction with their instructors. We have also found that the system is an excellent tool for instructors who wish to use programs such as the Japanese Kanji word processing through application sharing, and for preparing slides and content ahead of time. All of our teachers find it easy to use and are excited about the available tools for organizing and controlling their online courses.
—Dr. Diana Muir, Director of Curriculum Development AMDG, Inc. Atlanta, Georgia.

Working with Wimba continues to be a true partnership. Wimba Voice 5.2 is a perfect example of how Wimba listens to clients and prioritizes its product roadmap based on our feedback. The tool's usefulness extends beyond the 'obvious' subjects like foreign-language and speech, enabling our teachers in every content area to communicate personally, above and beyond what can be accomplished in text alone. For K-12 students, personal contact and feedback with voice tools are critical for student success.
